Specialty Markets

We conduct market research at Corona, and we enjoy working on a variety of topics. We have always resisted being pigeonholed into one particular industry in our research, and we welcome the opportunity to help clients in any industry or field.

Having said that, our reputation has grown in selected areas, and we have become quite strong in those areas without necessarily intending for them to become our "specialty." Some of those areas include:

Hispanic Market Research and Demographics

Corona Research has developed a niche in providing primary research for the Latino community. We have the capability to conduct focus groups in Spanish only for unacculturated populations or in English for American-born or acculturated people of Hispanic descent. We can also conduct surveys in either language or develop demographic profiles of Hispanic/Latino populations.

African American Community

Corona Research has worked closely with leaders in the African American community in Denver and has established a foothold within that community as a fair and unbiased research firm. Corona also has established partnerships with other firms in the nation that have similar reputations, allowing us to offer honest perspectives into local African-American communities' characteristics, needs, and market profiles.

Nonprofit Strategic Planning and Evaluation

Corona Research is an unquestioned leader in the nonprofit field. We have assisted nonprofits of a variety of sizes and missions with their strategic planning and/or program evaluations. Our unique ability to bundle original research services along with nonprofit consulting services adds immeasurable value to our clients and it is one of the reasons Corona  serves as the official market research and evaluation firm for the Colorado Nonprofit Association.

Field Data Collection

Most market research firms shy away from collecting data in person, due to the complexity of the research design and the logistical challenges of doing so. At Corona, we're a leader in this area for a simple reason: we enjoy it. Where focus groups may fall short to inform decision makers about what people really do, ethnography links what people say to what they actually do—avoiding the pitfalls that come from relying only on self-reported, focus-group data. Whether it's surveying late-night partiers in a bar district, measuring seat belt use among pickup drivers living in small rural communities, or developing statistics on the average price of hot dogs, we enjoy gathering data in its purest form.

Traffic Safety

Corona is a leader in traffic safety data collection and program evaluation, including studies of seat belt use, drinking and driving, young drivers, and other issues of interest. We have completed projects for numerous clients that include surveys, focus groups, demographic studies, media evaluations, program evaluations, and observational research.

Community Needs Assessments

We particularly enjoy community needs assessments because they combine many of our research tools: surveys, demographics, focus groups, interviews, and taking a big-picture strategic view of what it's like to be a resident of a particular community. Corona conducts needs assessments for a variety of governments and organizations, most recently undertaking several county health needs assessments.

Demographic Profile Development

If you haven't already examined our demographic profiles for purchase, please do so. Developing demographic profiles of populations or places, and particularly of specialized populations, is a unique strength of Corona Research. In addition, our skilled analysts can take existing data from the  2000 Census and the 2005 American Community Survey to create demographic projections, allowing managers a “glimpse into the future."

Healthcare

Corona has completed many projects involving healthcare, especially the business-to-consumer aspect. Past projects have been comprised of healthcare coverage issues, including Medicaid coverage; gathering opinions about receptivity to a unique healthcare service delivery model; gathering public ideas on website design for a hospital network's website; assessing hospital naming, advertising and media concepts for major branding campaigns; and conducting health needs assessments for communities. Corona has utilized a full spectrum of research tools on these projects, including focus groups; key person interviews; phone, mail and internet surveys; and mapping.

Education

Corona has worked on many education-related projects, from surveys of students and parents, to creating business and strategic plans for primary schools and institutes of higher education. Corona has completed various other education projects, including alumni and donor surveys, interviews with key external stakeholders, as well as internal administration and teachers, evaluation of after-school programs, data analysis of student achievement indicators, and demographic analysis of minority populations.

Recreation

Corona Research has conducted research for a number of community parks and recreation specific master plans and needs assessments. Specifically, Corona has conducted several public opinion surveys pertaining to residential perceptions and attitudes towards local parks and recreation issues. Typical parks and recreation issues detailed in such studies include residential attitudes towards current and future park usage, maintenance, willingness to pay for recreational facilities or services, passive versus active recreation preferences and overall satisfaction with community parks and recreation departments. Corona also has experience conducting observational surveys aimed at accurately estimating total annual visits, visitor types and activity types to recreational and natural areas.
